The Chudleigh sits on Agate Road, which runs parallel to the seafront one block back from all the activity along Marine Parade. Its location has everything to do with its popularity: just 150 yards from The Beach but set far enough back that none of the traffic noise or late-night revellers coming out of bars on the pier filters through. Streets occupied by houses built during a similar period provide what appears to be an upmarket residential area safe at any hour either entering or leaving.

From the front door is a short walk to Clacton Pier, recently regenerated with rides, bowling and arcades. Should you be seeking something more tranquil, at the top of the road are the beautifully kept Memorial Gardens which provide a colourful floral gateway to the town centre just beyond. The main shopping area of Clacton together with the railway station is also within comfortable walking distance in an approach that allows discovery of the town without ever having to move a car or hail a taxi.

You are spoiled for choice of dining and entertainment options within a five-minute radius. The traditional fish and chip shops line the seafront but there are also several better bistros and Italian restaurants in the area just off the front. Because The Chudleigh is so central, you can walk to dinner at Geo's Fishbar or Black Rock steakhouse along the promenade's lights-and walk back! This accessible location allows catching up with all that's vibrant about Clacton's nightlife secure in quiet accommodation just around the corner.
